Will Robertson
FOUNDER
Will’s first experiences in the oil patch were in 1996 when he spent a month among field hands on a secondary recovery waterflood oil field in Refugio County, Texas (then operated by Quintana Petroleum Corporation), followed by a month in Argentina interning with Quintana Minerals Corporation (who operated the Santa Cruz I UTE, having privatized a large concession from YPF). These early impressions helped forge an appreciation for safe and responsible operations: contrasting high recovery factor, shallow decline and long-lived production in the US with the modernization of all activities in the wake of state-owned enterprise management of oil & gas in a foreign jurisdiction.
From there, Will has been privileged to enjoy a career with exposure to most all segments across the energy, natural resource and timber, metals and electrical power industries – from emerging play leasing to mature field operations… from cementing and fracture completions to the development of new measurement-while-drilling technologies… from crude oil transportation to cryogenic natural gas and helium processing… along with wastewater management and disposal… and downstream activities in refining & marketing as well as gas-fired peaking power generation and retail electric provider services. These experiences have shaped Will’s strong endorsement of the energy industry where he loves its people, the storied assets and companies and “our word is our bond” ethos.
As President of Quintana Minerals Corporation, Will helps steward four partnerships who when combined span roughly 19 million mineral and 800,000 surface acres. Indeed, roughly 5,000 inactive wellbores intersect portions of these acres (according to state databases, these wells remain unplugged).
Whereas our industry should always seek the most environmentally positive outcomes, Will believes that the energy industry deserves our appreciation for the affordable and high standards of living that we all enjoy.
